The Power of Dream! K-Drama Review - Dream High

As Koreanovela continued to invade our Philippine Television, another Korean drama has struck our tv timeslot by storm, - “Dream High”.

Dream High revolves around six students at Kirin Arts High who work hard to follow their dreams to become famous.

The story is not the typical hate-love relationships or action-packed/comedy genre, since it tackles about life in general. Achieving your dreams and conquering every obstacle, and falling in love at the same time, that is Dream High all about.  It shows us the real power of dream – to believe on your own talents and have a positive outlook in life at all times.

Every character has a unique story that I’m pretty sure all of us will get along.  It proves that we are all human being; we laugh, we cry, we struggle, we love and most of all we dream.  It also teaches us how to forgive and demonstrate the real meaning of love. Follow what your heart desired and dream high, for this is the only way to achieve the things that we most wanted.

Work hard, be yourself, stand still and dream high!

If you haven’t watch dream high yet, you better watch this. Definitely a must see Korean drama!

But that’s not all, the Princess-turned-hero/villain, Anne Hathaway, portrayed the role of the new Catwoman in the upcoming epic conclusion of the Batman Trilogy – “The Dark Knight Rises”.

The Modern Day Catwoman, which is better?...

From a great princess-turned-out to a great hero-villain

Hathaway has already made another trademark to her name as she slips into the character notably portrayed by famous actresses like Julie Newmar, Michelle Pfiefffer and of course Halle Berry.

Here is the online movie trailer of The Dark Knight Rises.

Singer-turned-Actor Stars; For Reel or For Real?

If you are looking for a multifaceted talent, these singers believe that they can take their singing talent to the new height and become sensational movie stars. Unfortunately, not all singers-turned-actor proved that they conquer movie as well. However, some of them managed their way to movie fame and tag as “versatile actors”.

Here are some lists of singers who turned actors:

Will Smith

He started his career as The Fresh Prince with old Jazz but unfortunately singing is not what he’s looking for. Thanks to the world of acting where he manage to become famous.  He starred at various movies such as Bad Boys, Men in Black, Hitch, Independence Day and many more where he became everyone’s favorite movie star. And not only that, Will Smith got an Oscar Nomination in his movie Ali. A right decision that leads to the right direction, indeed!

Queen Latifah

An American singer, rapper and actress, this is what Dana Elaine Owen famously known as Queen Latifah made of.  She started her movie career in the movies Juice and Jungle Fever and House Party 2. Furthermore, being a versatile singer-turned-actress she earned various awards like a Golden Globe Award, a Grammy Award and Nominations, an Emmy Award Nomination, an Academy Award Nomination, and a Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Justin Timberlake

A Curly boy from the Mickey Mouse Club, Justin Timberlake started his singing career at a young age and eventually became a member of the most famous boy band “Nsync”. Timberlake made his movie debut in 2006 and starred in movies such as Bad Teacher, The Social Network and Friends with Benefits.

10 Cool Movie Gadgets for the Future?

Nifty Flux Capacitor: Ok, let’s admit it; we can’t change the bad things that happened to us before no matter how we tried, it’s impossible. But, with this Doc Borwn’s cult classic DeLorean – Nifty Flux Capacitator from the movie Time Machine from Back to the Future, lets you travel back in time once again.  Maybe the word “regrets” won’t exist anymore.

Yellow Chevrolet Camora: Who doesn’t want a car that can transform into your personal robot; of course we’ve all wanted that! A 2 in 1 gadget that can bring you anywhere and at the same time that can protect you from all the harm just like Bumblebee from the movie Transformers. Isn’t it great?

Lightsaber: The best weapon of all time, the Lightsaber from the sci-fi movie Star Wars. This sword is used by the Jedis and the Sith. This cool movie gadget is incomplete without this one.

Teleporter: This teleporter can transport you to wherever you want to be, instantly! As used by Capt. Kirk in the movie Star Trek, teleporters eliminate the trouble out travel. Maybe someday, someone can bring this gadget into the real world. No more traffic and fare hike, yey!

Iron Man’s Suit: If you think, Superman and Wonder Women can only fly, well think again. The man behind of this cool and powerful suit, Tony Stark from the movie Iron Man, invented a modern version of his suit – it can fly plus with all the firepower possible. Maybe flying is much better than running, what do you think?

Hi-Tech Touch Screen: A computer + an interactive touch screen = A gadget made in heaven! This gadget is used by Tom Cruise in his movie Minority Report. Could this be the future of Microsoft and other technology provider? I supposed.

Cerebro: Developed by mutant scientist Dr. Hank McCoy along with Magneto, cerebro is used by Professor Xavier to spot mutant, a powerful machine for a great mind.

Remote Control: If only we could rewind, fast forward and pause time, life can be much easier to live in. Just like Adam Sandler does in the movie Click controlling life in one click of his remote.

Watch: Laser beams, internet access and satellite TV, all of these in a small piece of jewelry from the movie Spy Kids.

Deluminator: Used in the movie Harry Potter, this deluminator all known as put outer is pretty much a remote control that can switches off lights.

Movie Review: Hachi - A Dog’s Tale

Dogs are man’s best friend and known for being loyal companions, but I’ve never believe that there is such a dog who spent almost a decade in a train station waiting for his master to arrive home.

Hachi – A Dog’s Tale, a drama based on the true story of a college professor who finds an abandoned dog at the train station and takes the poor animal at their home and names it Hachi.

Loyalty, faithfulness, and devotion, these things best described Hachi.  As days passed by, Hachi and his master (Richard Gere) form an unexplainable and strong bond that each day when his master left for work; his dog would stand by at the door to watch him go. But when his masters arrive home, Hachi would go to the train station to meet him. After the professor dies while away from home, Hachi didn’t realize that his master was already gone, and so Hachi still go to the train station every single day to wait for his master’s arrival. After almost 10 years of waiting, the dog died.

The story of Hachi is very touching and moving. A simple act alone shows a great amount of loyalty and devotion to one’s master.

Moral lesson of the story: A dog's love can never be measured by anything.  Make them feel that you care and love them and they'll bring it back to you 10,000 times more.

Tom Cruise; The New Rock Superstar?

A heartthrob, a cool guy, a tough actor what else could you ask for? Tom Cruise made a name for himself as something like these through his various roles in movies such as Mission: Impossible, Jerry Maguire and Top Gun.

And now, after his top grossing movie, Mission: Impossible – Ghost protocol, Tom Cruise is proving that despite his age, he still got the charm and charisma just like the old days. He’s one of the stars of the upcoming movie Rock of Ages, showing off how rock he can be as he portrays the role of the legendary rock singer Stacee Jaxx.

From a tough agent (Ethan Hawk) to a legendary rock star (Stacee Jaxx)

This highly anticipated movie is a rock melodic based on the hit Broadway and West End musical, follows the story of a small town girl and a city boy, chasing fame in the city of angels, Los Angeles.

Along with Tom Cruise, the cast is packed of great artist like Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J Blige, Bryan Cranston, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin and Paul Giamatti.

Rihanna; Lights, Camera, Action!

Superstar singer-turned-actress Rihanna portrays a role of a tough yet flawless weapon expert Officer Cora “Weps” Raikes in the recently shown sci-fi movie “Battleship”.

This is the first and definitely not the last acting role for Rihanna.  Her acting is good but Peter Berg seems that he’s not given her much to do on the big screen but to hold some high-caliber guns and shooting some aliens.

Check out this behind the scenes with Rihanna on Battleship!
