Kpop News: Choi Siwon Will Be Back To Rock Your TV Screen Again!

Good News to all Kpop Elf followers.  Choi Siwon will return to small screen again!  Isn’t it great?

After his successful Korean drama series, Spring Waltz, Athena: Goddess of War, Oh My Lady, Poseidon and many more, Siwon will be back to make you fall in love with him again.  According to some broadcast officials, Choi was cast in SBS’s new Monday-Tuesday series entitled “Lord of the Dramas” (still working on this title), which is planning to air this coming November. He will play the role of a famous Hallyu Star, Kang Min.

A representative from SM Entertainment quoted:

“Choi was offered to appear in the series and we are currently considering it positively”.

Synopsis:

This comedic series revolves around these three characters; Kang Min (Choi Siwon), an arrogant and self-centered Hallyu celebrity, a president of a production company (Kim Myung Min)  whose only concerned is to earn money, and a writer (Jung Ryeo Won is considered to play this role).

Because he only cares about money, the President will try to cast Kang Min to be the lead role of the drama series that he will produce. However, the writer of it thought that the series must contain human love and the trouble follows after that. 

I’m pretty sure that this will be another sure fire korean tv series hit for Siwon.

Choi Si Won: Getting in the Limelight of Kpop World

Choi Si-won is a South Korean model, actor and singer born on April 7, 1986. He is a member of the famous kpop boy group Super Junior.

All About Si-won:

• Choi Si-won came from a well-known family. His father is currently the CEO of a pharmaceutical company.
• He is a devoted Protestant Christian and he wants to become a missionary someday.
• He auditioned for SM Entertainment at the age of 16, but his parents doesn't know about it. He only notified his parents only after he passed the audition. Although his parents are not against his decision, they let him to take full responsibility of his actions.
• His first featured music video is The Grace’s Dana.
• Si-won’s first acting appearance in a short drama, Precious Family, Eighteen, Twenty-Nine and supporting role in a korean drama Spring Waltz respectively.
• He first debuted with his group Super Junior 05 (Super Junior) in 2005.

• Right after his musical and tv series debut, he was cast in the Hongkong movie entitled “A Battle of Wits” as Prince Liang Shi.
• After his movie debut, he then starred in the high school film Attact on the Pin-Up Boys with his co-group member.
• He got his first lead role in a Korean TV series, Legend of Hyang Dan as Lee Mong-ryong.
• He also starred in a romantic comedy tv series, Oh My Lady.
• He was featured in some famous magazines such as Men’s Health, Elle, Cosmopolitan and High Cut. He also does modeling for prominent brand names like Lacoste, Burberry, Gucci and many more.

• He recently finished his course Physical education in Inha University.
• Siwon was chosen as one of the endorser of Bench, top Philippine fashion brand alongside Donghae for its 25^th Anniversary.

This K-pop singer is one of the most in demand artist in Korea nowadays. A lead rapper of the Korean group Big Bang, a recording artist and actor, who am I talking about? None other than T.O.P or Choi Seung-hyun in real life.

Hwang Jin-Yi: Korean TV Series Reviewed

The Korean TV series “Hwang Jin Yi” is based on the life of a famous 16^th-century Gisaeng, who is admired in her time with her exceptional beauty and extraordinary intelligence. The Korean hit series depicts the life, struggles and pursuit of Hwang Jin Yi, in perfection of her art.

“Flowers that Understand”, this is what the representation of Giseang in the old age. Why? For a simple reason, it’s because of their intelligence and indigenous beauty.

Gisaeng emerged in the Goryeo Dynasty and they are like Japan’s Geisha. They were trained and attained knowledge in arts, music and poetry. Lee Don-soo, an art historian, insists that original Gisaeng are not sexual objects but rather “entertainers who had intelligence”. Their task is to entertain kings and aristocrats but often ignored because of their inferior social status. Sometimes they help in the army bases offering medical care and needle works.

A Gisaeng’s life became an inspiration for the women to stand up in the dominant world of men and showcase the skills they have. Nowadays, Gisaeng are known not just of beauty but examples of women strength. That strength became the pillars of today’s women to focus more on careers and rise in business and politics.

Ha Ji-won as Hwang Jin Yi, the South Korean actress who played the role of Hwang Jin Yi (Ha Ji-won) was pleased to portray her character in this TV series. And she quoted “I respect Hwang Jin-Yi myself and envy her for having such talent and strength”. She said that Korean women hoping to gain assertiveness in their society found a role model in the famous Gisaeng.

To prepare for the series, Ji-won said that she spent time in learning the traditional dances, string instruments and drum playing. In one scene, she said, she walked on a high rope without using a double or safety harness. Challenging indeed!

This Korean drama gained popularity and made an impact to many and an interest about the Gisaeng grew more.

There is no bigger than BIG: Korean TV Series Review of Big

The 2012 Korean TV series ‘Big’ stars actor Gong Yoo, actress Lee Min Jung and Suzy (member of the Korean female group Miss A). Big is the newest Korean drama series premiered last June 4, 2012, from the writers of the popular dramas such as ‘He’s Beautiful!’, ‘My Girlfriend is a Nine Tailed Fox’ and ‘The Greatest Love’.

This koreanovela is about a successful 30-year old doctor, Seo Yoon Jae (Gong Yoo), who switched bodies with an 18-year old student, Kang Kyung Joon (Shin Woo Ho), which happened after a car accident. The story goes as Yoon Jae’s fiancé, Gil Da Ran (Lee Min Jung), found out that her boyfriend is not him anymore but her high school student and had to cancel their wedding! While Jang Mari (Bae Suzy), Kyung Joon’s admirer, tries to get his soul back to his original body.

Yoo is seen in the Korean romantic comedy series ‘The 1^st Shop Coffee Prince’ and was admired by many fans. Despite his funny antics and comic roles, his charisma and appealing personality won the hearts of many girls.
